Different Skin Care for Different Skin
While the general principles of skin care are the same for anyone no matter their genes or lifestyle, there is a level of detail that is different for different types of skin. Generally dermatologists and skin care professionals recognize four categories of skin: dry, normal, oily, and sensitive. These categories are important to take into consideration when deciding what skin care products will best suit you personally.
Even if you have what is commonly referred to as “normal” skin, this doesn’t mean that you are exempt from skin care! It simply means that the balance of lipids and hydration are around average for the general population. Often times, normal skin can get very oily at the end of the day resulting in zits and blackheads. So it is important to use mild soap and an oil based cream to maintain good skin care.
Dry skin requires its own considerations, as it usually falls under the “sensitive” category as well. Generally you want to look for a cream that uses lots of hypoallergenic ingredients with lots of vitamins such as A, C, D, and E. These are natural ingredients such as cocoa butter, coconut oil, and shea butter. Try to avoid using tap water and try to keep the length of showers to a minimum to avoid washing out all those valuable nutrients.
Finally, if your skin is naturally very oily, you should be washing your face several times a day for good skin care, but avoiding moisturizers with lots of greases. A clay or papaya mask is often encouraged for people who suffer this condition. By utilizing this skin care method once a week and also rinsing your face with cool water, you will be given the ability to cut back on your face’s oil production and keep your complexion happy.
No matter what type of skin you have, practicing good skin care is a must, and now you should have some sort of basic direction to get started.
